  • What is this Toolkit?

    This Open Contracting for Health's (OC4H), e-Learning toolkit is designed to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of implementing open contracting & health at every stage of the procurement process – through step by step guides, country specific manuals, implementation guidance and contextual information.

    Anyone interested can browse the core chapters of the website but creating an account gives procurement officials, CSOs and community members a more tailored experience

     

    What do I get out of it?

    After completion of the (short) assessments in the  9 main chapters, you will:

    • Have more knowledge on why open contracting is important in procurement
    • Be able to identify key steps and roles in the procurement cycle and have a better understanding of open contracting in public health procurement
    • Be able to use and analyse procurement data to improve value for money in your procurement system
    • On completion of the final exam The learner will receive a Certificate of Completion for Training in Open Contracting For Health

      The current e-Learning toolkit is composed of nine core chapters that are shown on the toolkit front page as well as in the drop-down My Courses list. This toolkit can be split broadly into four categories.


      1. The toolkit initially focuses on providing a foundational understanding of Open Contracting and Health. This includes explanations of key concepts, good practice and how procurement, open Contracting and health relate to each other.


      2. Secondly, the toolkit takes a deeper dive into what Open Contracting can do in your context, from improving procurement systems to tackling corruption in medical equipment. 


      3. Thirdly the toolkit gives insights on how to use data to improve Value for Money, Efficiency and Service Delivery. At the end of this category, a certification can be obtained by those participants who complete the course and successfully pass the respective examination.


      4. Lastly the toolkit provides two optional extended modules that are split into three parts each. This is for more advanced technical training that goes into the detail of different topics.

      • Toolkit Features

        Quick Questions

        • Throughout the chapters you will be asked to answer quick questions that are designed to reinforce your learning. 
        • These need to be completed to obtain the toolkit certificate but are very short, each only having up to three questions

        Account & Navbar

        • In the top right of the page is your username which can be clicked on to edit account details or log out
        • The Navbar has three options, "Home" which directs you back to the title page, "My Courses" which allows for easy navigation between courses and "Resources," providing the learner relevant tools and information tailored to their context

        The OC4H Glossary

        • Throughout this toolkit there are key terms defined and explained through the use of an OC4H Glossary.
        • Simply click on words highlighted in blue in the text and a definition for the word will pop up.

        OC4H Learner Forum

        • Accessible through your resources drop down in your toolbar, this forum gives learners a place to discuss ideas, ask questions and find solutions to problems. 
        • If you have any technical problems with this toolkit then please post them in the pinned thread

        Discussion Hubs

        • Throughout this toolkit there will be different points at which you can contribute to the community by sharing your experiences and discussing topics related to open contracting
        • We call these Discussion Hubs, a place where you can mentor and mentee other practitioners

        • The Mobile App - Offline Use

          This toolkit runs on an open source software called Moodle. You can access this course through the Moodle Mobile App which can be downloaded here:

          Once installed, the Moodle Mobile App allows you to access the toolkit on the go. You can download the courses using the picture guide to the right, meaning that you can later access the courses offline without the need for data or internet connection
